Re: Temperature Threshold Alerts - specific to HD type

Please check the Support -> Q&A Knowledge Base -> Solid state drives, SSDs -> My SSD reports high temperature. Is it normal? How to avoid alerts related to temperature? https://www.hdsentinel.com/kb/category/8/solid-state-drives-ssds/my-ssd-reports-high-temperature-is-it-normal-how-to-avoid-aler...

Re: Hard Disk Sentinel & Stablebit Drivepool

Probably the issue is related to your multi-drive USB enclosure. Not really sure if it may be somehow "locked" by Drivepool (it may be related too). I suspect it is more related to the USB enclosure(s) you have. While usually there is no problem with such enclosures, some of them have olde...

Re: Hard Disk Sentinel & Stablebit Drivepool

Sounds really interesting. Of course both software (and File Explorer) are independent from each other, see no reason about problems between them. Probably related to one or more disk drive(s) or special controllers eg. RAID controller, external RAID enclosure or so. Please use Report menu -> Send t...

Thanks for your message and the suggestion. Yes, generally the graph designed to show the most recent values - if available (eg. if the disk connected, so values can be recorded) and yes, with the scroller it is possible to move "back" to view historical data. I'll check the possibilities ...

Re: SSD's estimated remaining lifetime

No need to worry, It will not hit 0 (at least not in a short time). And if it would decrease or drop further - it does not mean the SSD will surely fail. In general, the estimated remaining lifetime is calculated based on the - actual power on time of the drive (how long it was working) - actual Hea...

Re: Dell BOSS-S1 card (Marvell 88SE9230)

Thanks for your message and information. Yes, I'm afraid this is "normal". The DELLBOSS (generally Marvell 9230 RAID) is completely supported by the Windows version of Hard Disk Sentinel, but not under Linux. Sorry, but the Linux version has limited RAID support compared to the Windows ver...

Re: Model ID,ST5000DM000 From 8% health to 98%

Sorry to say, but what you see is completely normal and expected. The Reinitialise Disk Surface test designed to force the disk drive to stabilize the errors: reveal possible un-detected problems and force the hard disk to re-allocate bad sectors if required. These may remain "hidden" for ...

Re: CPU usage 100% due HDSentinel

Sounds so interesting. Can you please check with latest 6.30 version? Generally version 5.40 is very-very old (released in 2019), since that, there were lots of updates. You can try to manually install the latest 6.30 version installer over the old one, as it would update the software and keeps all ...

Re: Reinitialize disk surface Speed drop after hitting the "bad" repairable block

What we can call "normal"? I mean is a "bad sector" or disk problem/failure normal? ;) Of course on a perfect drive we would expect the the test will go with (near) constant speed, but on a drive with a problem (even a minor issue) yes, we can encounter that the performance drops...

Re: CPU usage 100% due HDSentinel

Did lots of testing, but generally Hard Disk Sentinel can simply never cause 100% CPU use (maybe except on a very old system with single-core CPU). While could not reproduce the situation, in 6.30 version, an extra protection added against similar. > If available a internal cmd of HDS for create a R...

Re: windows 11 file explorer not seeing HD

The partition and your data present on the drive, "just" Windows does not automatically add a drive letter to it. That's why the File Explorer does not see the contents of the hard disk drive. This is not rare, can happen (for example) if the drive cloned to a new drive and then used as se...

Re: After the disk repair, the number of weak sectors increased

I'm afraid this is possible, happens frequently. Yes, as you can see, the weak sectors detected repaired - but the test revealed additional weak (pending) sectors at different positions. Usually these weak (pending) sectors are related to cables, connections, insufficient power or similar in the ope...

Yes, I'm afraid outlook/hotmail stopped supporting SMTP, so it is not possible to use any more. Please use a different e-mail provider, for example there are free choices: Gmail or GMX, as with them, it is possible to configure e-mail sending. Re: Warning symbol remains on the Re-enable Alerts button

Please use Configuration -> Alerts -> Select Sound File where it is possible to select the sound alert file. The folder of Hard Disk Sentinel contains two sound files in different formats (HDnotify.wav and HDsirena.mp3) and you can select/use any other MP3 file (I'd recommend to use a short file).
