Re: New hard drive - Information not yet available in Disk Information

Everything "above" this last section on the Information page are detected from the disk drive itself. This includes (for example) the functionality and features supported / enabled, so everything above the "Information not yet available" is properly detected, reported. Generally ...

Re: The status of the hard disk is unknown

Probably under Windows 11, a different driver is installed for the disk controller / motherboard which may require change/update. Sometimes (even we'd expect differetly) a fresh installed system may install wrong drivers, causing troubles. I suggest to (exactly as displayed on the Overview page) ple...

Re: New hard drive - Information not yet available in Disk Information

Thanks for the report, yes, as I see, this model is not yet in the database, so the latest version also shows similar.

Thanks for your attention, this model will be added to the database as soon as possible, so a later version will probably able to show this information too.

Re: New hard drive - Information not yet available in Disk Information

The Information not yet available means that the current version of Hard Disk Sentinel does not have this model in its internal database, so can't show these details. These information comes from the database of the software, so yes, generally if you use an old version with a new hard disk drive, th...

Re: ssd health that doesn't look right

The problem is always with partial screenshots that they do not show the actual Hard Disk Sentinel version, so I do not know how old it is. This may be important as the support of all drives (both older and newer) constantly added to newer and newer versions. Now (as in similar situations) I always ...

Re: HDsentinel 0.20.10851 with parameter -solid

Can you please check:

https://www.hdsentinel.com/hdslin/hdsentinel-020b-x64.zip

(assuming you use the 64 bit Linux version).

It should correctly show the power on time with -solid option too.

Thanks for your attention and patience.

Re: Is my new HDDs going to fail soon?

Different manufacturers use the S.M.A.R.T. attributes differently and these values may report different kind of information. For some Seagate drives yes, it can be 0 - and for your WD drives, it can be usually between 2000-3000. But none of them are better or worse than the other. Comparing an attri...

Re: Is my new HDDs going to fail soon?

To be short: NOT, the drive will probably work without problems. > And both passed in Short, Extended Self Test, and Read/Write Test before I use them. In addition to the 100% Health displayed and the text description explains that no problems found, these tests confirmed that the drive is working w...

The following functions are available and can (should) be used to destroy data permanently: Disk menu -> Surface test -> Write test (fastest possible, single pass complete overwrite) Disk menu -> Surface test -> Reinitialise Disk Surface (more secure: performs multiple overwrite passes with clear + ...

Re: Hogyan lehetséges ez ST320LT007-nél?

Köszönöm a megtisztelő bizalmat !

Re: Separate Write and then Read Test vs WRITE + read test combine

If the drive has no real problem (eg. if it is a new drive) and its Health % is high enough, no signs of data corruption (eg. no communication problems reported in the text description of the Overview page like this https://www.hdsentinel.com/hard_disk_case_communication_error.php ) then yes, it is ...

Re: Can other programs read or be notified of the HD Sentinel health status?

Yes of course, Hard Disk Sentinel offers many ways to "communicate" with other software: any software / script can read the detected status, health, temperature (and generally any other) information detected by Hard Disk Sentinel. Please check these pages for some details about how to expo...

Re: Hogyan lehetséges ez ST320LT007-nél?

Jó kérdés, érdemes lenne megkérdezni attól, aki eladta a HDD-t. Nem tudom, a korábbi állapot hogyan lett rögzítve? Képként? Lehetséges, hogy az a kép került manipulálásra? Egészen biztosan ugyanaz a HDD a mostani is? Érdemes lenne a Riport menü -> Teszt riport küldése a fejlesztőnek opciót használni...

Re: Wondering what exactly the disk repair function does

Generally the Disk Repair test performs a read scan and when it finds an unreadable sector (which is usually a weak/pending sector: a damaged sector which is still in use by the drive, so not yet reallocated, not yet marked as bad sector) then the Disk Repair test - performs different techniques to ...

Re: Seagate 15K Drive Failure Predicted in Sentinel But Seatools Shows No Issue

I'm afraid no, there is no incompatibility or any similar. Exactly the opposite: Hard Disk Sentinel (as should) reads and shows the actual real status of the drive. As you can see on the Overview page, the SMART status of the drive is: Data Channel Impending Failure Data Error Rate Too High as indic...

Re: Only Hard Disk Sentinel reports bad sectors.

> Does my HDD really HAVE any bad sectors? To be short, YES, it has. The bad sectors are no longer used, instead a spare area is used for all further reads/writes. So yes, it is "normal" and expected that (ideally) nothing else shows these and you may feel your drive is "perfect"...
