Re: Reports Health of 0% after installing version 6.10
From the report, yes, now I see the situation. Yes, I'm afraid what you see is completely "normal" and expected in this situation. No, there is no bug here, I can confirm that the latest version supports this SSD properly and the 0% Health is expected in this case. The previous version rel...

Re: Recommended USB3 docks and adapters
Thanks for the information! If you have some time, can you please use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option about the USB adapters? Then it is possible to check the "raw" details detected, verify/check if there is anything to further change, optimize specifically for them and...

Re: HDD 12 % HEALTH
The surface test window is not complete, so hard to say anything for sure. Ideally if the surface test shows no errors (so all possible bad sectors found, reallocated) then the drive can be still used with constant monitoring to be informed about any (even minor) new issue. However, considering the ...

Re: HDS lose registration & data after a BSOD
Generally no status / details should be lost of course, but yes, in worst case, it is possible that Windows may not update the information properly due to the BSOD. > I have seen the "Backup/Restore current configuration" option but had no idea it also backed up the statistics, Yes, that o...

Re: Reports Health of 0% after installing version 6.10
Without knowing the details, hard to say anything for sure. 5.x version can be a very-very old version, probably released long before your SSD, so there is good chance that it could not yet properly support it. There is good chance that the new version can detect/report error/failure condition which...

Re: HDD Capacity size reporting wrong - often after RAID
There is no magic and no wonders of course.
You just (as suggested) connected the drive to a different system, without using the problematic dock - and the drive is immediately working as should.

Re: HDD Capacity size reporting wrong - often after RAID
Thanks, I see. This is completely independent from the actual drive(s) and also completely independent from the HPE RAID controller (generally how/where the drives used). > There seems to be no established guide for what to do to drives when moving them from a raid > controller and start using them ...

Re: Tray icons - disable
Yes, of course, it is possible. Please check Configuration -> Hard Disk Drives page: you can toggle the tray icon ON/OFF for any drive by DOUBLE CLICK on the drive. Alternatively below the list, there is an option to "Display only the highest temperature on tray" to have only one single ic...

Re: HDD Capacity size reporting wrong - often after RAID
The information you wrote sounds interesting. Can you please write FOR SURE a RAID controller / configuration where did you see any similar? I'd be happy to reproduce, investigate. Personaly I examined countless of number of RAID controllers / configurations (IDE, SATA, SAS, NVMe, USB external etc.....

Re: BSOD during Short Self-Test, SSD then no longer detected.
I can confirm that generally the SSD should have no problems at all, its 99% Health (probably 1% decrease related to wearout) confirms that it is working correctly. Probably your MP600 has a firmware bug: when the special function (the internal hardware self test) started, the SSD "stuck" ...

Re: Surface Scan - Is my HDD bad?
To answer short, yes, your hard disk can cause the troubles. > The test hung for a long time on block 9765 and I got these error messages: The test attempted to read/recover the sectors. It is not "hung" in any ways, exactly the opposite: it was processing the sector and was waiting for th...

Re: Transfer Speed Vary Wildly When Doing Surface Test, Bad SSD?
> should be close to 500 MB/s in transfer speed Sorry, but I'm afraid this is wrong assumption. Manufacturers like to say "speed is up to XY MB/sec" but they never mention that it is NOT always true and with time and normal use, the performance is constantly decreasing. What you see is com...

No problems of course, no need to apologize: thanks for the information as this may be useful in similar situations.
The firmware update can help to improve the operation / performance of the card in general.

Re: Slow writing speed in surface test - write test
Thanks, but generally there are no compatibility issue with such cards of course. There are some drives (eg. SAS drives formatted to 520 / 528 bytes) where the write speed is slow due to the controller, it is completely independent from Hard Disk Sentinel software. But generally the write speed for ...

Re: Extended Self Test vs Surface Scan
Yes, generally with hardware self test, this is possible. Generally, the short self-test and extended self-test functions run "inside" the device (the hard disk or SSD) and performs test steps defined by the manufacturer. During these tests, we can only check if the - test is still running...

Re: Extended Self Test vs Surface Scan
Yes, to save time, you can use the Disk menu -> Surface test -> Write+Read test (instead of using the Read test + Reinitailise Disk Surface tests). Generally it is good idea to perform a complete surface read - and write too, to verify / confirm that all sectors can be read and written as well. On t...

Re: Advice for buying used hard drive? Sellers reset everything to zero.
I can completely understand and agree your practices: > I have avoided "100% heath with 0 hours" .. > I figured that if 100% health after 75 days, then, even if it was reset earlier, it's doing ok. Is that sound logic? Yes, this is perfect logic. Personally I'd do the same: I'd trust a dri...

Re: New hard drive - Information not yet available in Disk Information
The problem is that no, hard disk drives do not provide the number of disks / heads and the recording technology (CMR / SMR or so). Sometimes manufacturers even want to "hide" the internals. I completely understand and agree what you wrote. The official PDF file confirms that the drive is ...
