Cannot start Hard Disk Sentinel Linux GUI

Hi,

I'm running Ubuntu 20.04.

Code: Select all

uname - a:
(linux REPLACED 5.4.0-52-generic #57-Ubuntu SMP Thu Oct 15 10:57:00 UTC 2020 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux)

I've followed the installation instructions https://www.hdsentinel.com/hard_disk_sentinel_linux_gui.php

After I run the application a window pops up asking for the sudo password:

After entering the password, another window pops up:

If I choose No, I get the following:

If I choose Yes, it closes the application.

I've tried multiple times to enter the sudo password, even typing it in text editor and copy-pasting, but the result is the same.

What am I doing wrong?

Yes I have the exact same issue running on ubuntu 20.
one thing though is that:
1) at first I ran the install script under sudo, it installed but would start (same exact error as OP)
2) I reran the script under my account, still same error.
3) I uninstalled it as root, then reinstalled under my own account, still getting the same error....

hey i have same problem, but i found this way to get hdsentinel workout. sory for my bad english.
1. start menu > system
2. righ click / edit aplication on icon HDSentinel_GUI
3. add "sudo" comand before "/usr/share/bin/HDSentinel_GUI"
4. choose option / click on "Run in terminal"
5. save
6. try to lauch it again
