problem with Sentinel GUI in MX Linux 19.4

Post by michael »

I have MX Linux with 2 HD (SSD 512MB KINGSTON OM8P0S3512F-00 + 1TB HD Seagate Barracuda 2.5 5400 - ST1000LM048-2E7172). When tried to install the GUI version for Linux, got the following problems:
1) desktop icon was not created.
2) when tried to run the apps from /usr/share/bin/HDSentinel_GUI, had the following problems:
- the left side reported both drives (HD+SSD), but the right side shows only 1 SSD (the image shows SSD but the right side HD was highlighted).
Further search shows the GUI only supports up to Debian 8.5, but why Sentinel reported wrong disk?
Does Sentinel will work with command line in Debian 10/MX 19.4?

Thanks for your message and sorry for the possible troubles.

Generally the Hard Disk Sentinel Linux GUI is outside of my scope.

The Linux GUI created by a different person, Gregory25 as described on
https://www.hdsentinel.com/hard_disk_se ... ux_gui.php

I sent him a notice, hopefully he'll have the opportunity to check what can be adjusted in the Linux GUI.

Yes, the command line version should work of course, it is independent from the GUI.
Please download the proper vrsion (probably the x64 version) from https://www.hdsentinel.com/hard_disk_sentinel_linux.php
Just make sure to download with wget command as described on the page (instead of Firefox - as Fifrefox may cause corrupted gz file download).
