Hi hdsentinel

I got quick question here. I get from time to time alert email notifications stating in the title for example "critical value degradation", but how can I pinpoint from the content of the email what actually changed?

Hi Lucas,

By default, the e-mails are configured to be complete HTML reports, which contain the complete current status of the drives.
Yes, I agree, that in that, it is not easy to check what changed, what triggered the "critical value degradation" event.
If you receive a such e-mail, the best is to open the main window of Hard Disk Sentinel and verify the ALERTS page of the hard disks, to check which is the most recent entry, what kind of new error (change in a critical S.M.A.R.T. attribute) happened.

If you prefer to view in the e-mail, you may consider to open Configuration -> Message settings page, and
- in the "Detailed report components" section, enable the "Alerts".
Then the detailed report will contain the Alerts, related to all hard disks, so then you may check the most recent entry.
- or in the "Send e-mail" section, you may change the Report type to Brief text report.
Then the sent e-mail will be only a very short e-mail, which quickly shows the event, for example:

Disk: #3: WDC WD10JPVX-75JC3T0 S.M.A.R.T. 5 (Reallocated Sectors Count): 2 -> 3

and a quick summary about current health and free space status.


Maybe the detailed HTML report can contain this information, exactly to quickly point on the new problem, degradation.

Thanks hdsentinel for pointing me to the exact location where I can tweak it. Yes, the "brief..." setting seems like exactly what I was looking for. I changed that and will see how it works the next time I get an email. Thanks!
