Win 7 machine will not restart after HDSentinel installed

Post by reddevilmeuk »

Hi,

One of my machines is a Windows 7 box and its been running for months with no issue. Yesterday I installed Hard Drive Sentinel 3.50 but didn't reboot the machine. No other changes have taken place on the box. I rebooted the box this morning and now every time I log into that machine it crashes (whether remotely or locally), creates a dump file and reboots. It won't even let me log on just reboots in a cycle. I've tried last known good config, to no avail. It seems to not like something on startup.

I can leave the machine at the logon screen, and connect to the RPC | Shares, but cannot remotely change the registry :(

Is there a list of drivers and locations the application is installing so I can delete | rename them in case it's trying to load something it doesn't like...

:(

Thanks for your message.

However, I suspect the issue is not related to Hard Disk Sentinel.
If it would cause the problem, the system restore (or using last known good config) should fix it.

Personally I recommend to press F8 during boot and select "Disable automatic restart on system failure" option.
That way when the system wants to reboot, instead it displays an error screen. That may help to diagnose the issue as it should display an error message and may point to a driver file. If you can send to info@hdsentinel what you see on that image (or make a readable photo eg. with a mobile phone) it may help.

Anyway, if you rename / delete the folder where Hard Disk Sentinel installed, it will not be activated and you'll see if the issue is related to it.
(no other files are installed outside this folder).

Do you remember, have you used Report menu Send test report to developer option ?
Then I could check the current system configuration and may see some information which can be interesting to examine the issue.
