1) What is a "handled alert"? Your Help says that clicking the 2nd icon from the left in the main window clears "handled alerts" i.e. re-enables them. But what action causes an alert to be handled?
2) Have you had any request to change this icon? The yellow triangle sticks out, looking, to me, itself like some kind of error alert that just popped up.
For my next questions, consider the following Configuration:
-for Alerts, I have selected "Send/display message" for "When disk health is low" (both sub-option thresholds) AND for "When temperature is too high" (both sub-option thresholds).
-For Message Settings, I have selected "Display message on screen":
3) What standard message(s) displays on my screen when all 4 standard sub-option thresholds are crossed above?
4) True?: I couldn't "Set custom temperature thresholds" and run a test to see the message, since you require 1 unit higher then current to trigger it, which my good disk won't reach.
5) For disk temperature, if I select "Set custom temperature thresholds" (on the Temperature tab of a hard disk display), am I correct that I still have to keep checked in Alerts the "Send/display message" boxes' 2 standard sub-options of yellow 198 and red 199, in order for my "custom temperature thresholds" values to override those standard values--still displayed although overridden--and send the standard message?
Thanks once more for your help.

Re: Questions: Alerts and Display messages in Standard version
An alert is "handled" when it was processed by the software. That means that it send the e-mail, display the warning message in window, play the sound alarm and so - depending on the setting for the particular alert.FuturePerfect wrote:1) What is a "handled alert"? Each events trigger one alert (for example if you set alert to low health you only receive one e-mail, not many e-mails when the health remains low).
No, I did not yet receive any such request. The yellow triangle should indicate the alert (event) condition.FuturePerfect wrote:2) Have you had any request to change this icon? The yellow triangle sticks out, looking, to me, itself like some kind of error alert that just popped up.
Sorry if it is confusing, if you have any ideas or thoughts (or even an other icon file) please just let me know and I'll consider changing the current one
You should receive a warning message when any of the 4 events happen. Any of them will trigger the alarm condition so the window is displayed with the current event, the threshold value which is exceed.FuturePerfect wrote:For my next questions, consider the following Configuration:

Yes, the alert is triggered when the temperature goes above the set level.FuturePerfect wrote:4) True?: I couldn't "Set custom temperature thresholds" and run a test to see the message, since you require 1 unit higher then current to trigger it, which my good disk won't reach.
The drive may reach it easily: just perform some testing (for example Disk -> Extended test, Disk -> Surface test -> Read test), they may increase the temperature quickly.
Yes, these "custom temperature thresholds" override the standard values. So when the message appears (when a drive triggers the alarm) the proper (custom) temperature threshold is displayed (as exceeded).FuturePerfect wrote:5) For disk temperature, if I select "Set custom temperature thresholds" (on the Temperature tab of a hard disk display), am I correct that I still have to keep checked in Alerts the "Send/display message" boxes' 2 standard sub-options of yellow 198 and red 199, in order for my "custom temperature thresholds" values to override those standard values--still displayed although overridden--and send the standard message?

Re: Questions: Alerts and Display messages in Standard version
Thanks again for a great reply to my questions.
One last clarification: could you give specific examples of disk health and temperature alert messages and how they are displayed locally? Running a disk stress test to raise the temperature to trigger an alert to see isn't possible for me right now. Examples of what I mean:
1) What does the standard message displayed on the screen contain and how is it presented when disk health is below 50%:
-instead of this fictitious message content: " Warning! Disk health below 50%", what is the real text of the actual message?
-instead of this fictitious presentation: the message full screen flashing always on top, how is the message really presented?
2) What does the standard message displayed on the screen contain and how is it presented when disk temperature 199 F:
-instead of this fictitious message content: " Warning! Disk temperature 199 F", what is the real text of the actual message?
-instead of this fictitious presentation: the message mid 1/9th screen popping up once, how is the message really presented?
Thanks a lot. This ends my alert questions Also, thank you for asking if I have an idea for an alternative to the alert icon--I don't and am not an interface design expert, but if I find something that might be appropriate I'll let you know.

Re: Questions: Alerts and Display messages in Standard version
Here are some example images on alerts:
If you configure the alerts to be displayed locally ( Configuration -> Message Settings -> Display message on screen ) then you may see the following popup boxes appear:
1) on overheat:
(note the global temperature threshold setting on top and the disk with "Overheat" label)
(note the global temperature threshold setting on top and the disk with "Overheat" label with the custom threshold setting for that drive)
The same popup box appears on low health also (just then the "health threshold" is displayed).
Additionally, even if this local display is disabled (for example you configure only e-mail alert), a small pop-up notification above the tray icon is displayed:
Hope this helps
Thanks, if you have ideas, thoughts or recommendations about the icon, just let me know!

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!
Great support. Your program is fabulous and constantly improved. I tried all the alternatives and yours is by far the best.
