ULTRA ATA CRC Error

Post by EirasMozz »

Today I create a topic about End to End Error in one disk. But know, when I was copping dates for a external HDD using a TERACOPY software, i saw this error, up and up, increasing when I copy this files.

I copy 35 GB and the "perfomance" decreased 99% to 77% right now...

TERACOPY make a checksun in files when it copy, comparing the original file with the new files.. And Teracopy says that NO ERROR in this copy. But what its mean?

Please see the appropriate section at Support -> Knowledge Base -> Hard Disk Cases -> Communication errors, which designed exactly to describe this situation, describe what causes this, how to repair and how to avoid in general and by Hard Disk Sentinel.

See directly: http://www.hdsentinel.com/hard_disk_cas ... _error.php

Very good, this is exactly what Hard Disk Sentnel Pro backup function (which can be started manually, scheduled or automatically upon problem) also does ;)

It means you're lucky.

These problems usually caused by disk cables or loose connections.

In most cases, these do not indicate big troubles (this is why the health seems excellent) - just may reduce disk performance as the system needs to repeat the communication. Ideally the data is OK, "just" the performance reduced. However, in some special (worst) situations, data corruption, system instability or even data loss may happen.

I'd recommend to try connecting the drive to a different SATA slot on the motherboard, maybe try a different SATA data cable and verify if the error-counter increases or not.
The displayed errors will remain displayed, as the hard disk does not clear them, but after fixing the problems, you may any time clear the error-counter in Hard Disk Sentinel to acknowledge the problem and remove from the text description.
Then Hard Disk Sentinel will show only if there will be similar (or different) problem with the drive.
This procedure described on the above link.

If you use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option, I can check the complete status of the drive and advise about the best way to diagnose, test and fix possible issues.
