Hi hdsentinel,
My hard drive makes a clicking sound whenever the screen turns off. The hard drive spins down then spins up during which makes a click sound. This sound doesn't come when connected to charger or when the screen is on. Hdd sleep time is set to 30 min still this sound comes.
Please help.
Here is the link of the sound i have recorded https://youtu.be/ryBG7y7lino

Re: Hdd spins down and spins up
The spin down / spin up issue is usually related to power management function. In some situations, this may be activated independently from the current HDD sleep time (power management setting of Windows) and yes, can be really annoying.
Depending on the hard disk model, maybe it supports Advanced Power Management function, which can be used to manage this.
Personally I'd try to select Disk menu -> Advanced Power Management (if I'm correct this is available, indicating the drive supports that function) and move the slider to right.
Configuring highest value (254) usually prevents disk spin down - so then there should be no spin down / spin up.
Please note that most drives (even that they should remember this setting) reset on power cycle, so it may be required to enable "automatic adjust setting when started".
If this option is not available (which means the drive does not support this function), you may try to open Configuration -> Disk control and in the "Do not allow spin down of disks" field, specify a
*
This would cause a periodic command to be sent to the drive - and then it should not spin down. So the effect is generally same as the highest Advanced Power Management level setting: the hard disk should run without spin down / spin up again.
As always, if you use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option, I can check the actual situation, verify the drive functionality, status and this way may see the situation more clearly.
