Greetings.
Each time I boot my computer Windows (10 x64 Pro) wants to check and repair one of the WD Blacks I have installed. What should take only moments (M.2 boot drive), booting now takes several minutes.
I've ran numerous tests on the drive using HDS (5.01) and have found nothing wrong. The performance is the same as other WD Blacks in the computer and the surface scan is 100% good. HDS reports 100% health, but only 75% performance (which I don't understand as all the tests I've run show it's performing on par with the other drives). I've swapped cables and positions on the bus with no change in behavior or performance.
Looking at system logs during boot I see entries such as:
The IO operation at logical block address 0x642c50 for Disk 3 (PDO name: \Device\0000003e) was retried.
The IO operation at logical block address 0x5f1f10 for Disk 3 (PDO name: \Device\0000003e) was retried.
The IO operation at logical block address 0x5f1f20 for Disk 3 (PDO name: \Device\0000003e) was retried.
The IO operation at logical block address 0x643be0 for Disk 3 (PDO name: \Device\0000003e) was retried.
But as I stated previously, a surface scan using HDS did not find any problems.
Any ideas on how to solve the problem that's not a problem?

Such retries are frequently related to communication issues, when the drive can't properly read/write a sector as should for the first time.
The performance % should suggest it - if it's 75%, then it confirms the above.

If I'm correct, Hard Disk Sentinel shows the communication problems in the text description, which confirms why the performance is lower....
If not (or in any cases, just for confirmation) I'd recommend to use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option, would be nice to check the complete status of the drive, may give ideas, thoughts about what can be wrong.
I know you mentioned you replaced cables and swapped connections (which is perfect - as these are the most frequent cause of such issues) but there is still something which causes unstable operation: errors or "just" retries which reduce performance (sometimes not really noticeable, but sometimes may cause big performance decrease).

If the drive is perfect - it is completely normal that there is no problem in accessing the sectors, but there may be performance decrease.
Maybe did you see darker green blocks? Or drops/decrease on the Performance graph (Temperature and transfer speed page in the test window)?
This page:

gives additional information about such issue, what else may cause it (for example power splitters, 4pin -> SATA power cables too, but even overclocking, general system over-temperature, improper power supply can cause such issues).

Thanks for the reply.
About 24 hours after I made the post, HDS reported an error on the drive. A surface scan/repair fixed the bad sector and everything is working fine again. I'm not sure why the OS was picking up the error sooner, but it's all good now.
Thanks for the app!
