System: W7 64-bit, 6 HDDs
1) In the latest version of HDS I was able to see all of the HDD activity of each drive in the Status Window Gadget. Everything was working fine until I looked at it earlier today and noticed the graphical screens that were showing the HDD activities of each drive were gone. I don't know what happened. I made sure that the "Display Disk Activity" box is checked in the configuration set-up. And I tried completely un-installing HDS, removing the residual files in the directory, and re-installing HDS.
2) From what I can tell, this forum is this the only way to get help with HDS problems. As a paying customer for two different installations, I would have expected to be able to get direct support. Am I not looking in the right place?

Re: Display Disk Activity
Thanks for your message.
1) Usually the real-time performance display issues are not really related to Hard Disk Sentinel, but related to Windows itself.
Hard Disk Sentinel uses the performance counters provided by Windows - and if some of them become corrupted, this information (both on the "Performance" tab and the tray icons) are no longer available until fix of these counters.
Please look at the proper section at the Frequently Asked Questions page : http://www.hdsentinel.com/faq.php#perf
2) Thanks for using a registered version!
Excuse me for the confusion.
I can confirm that direct support is always available (of course), just please send an e-mail to info@hdsentinel.com
This forum is open to discuss ideas, thoughts, recommendations, problems and questions about using the software or about particular hardware devices, but direct support is always open via the following ways:
- send your questions, experiences, issues, questions by e-mail to info@hdsentinel.com (fastest way to get answer for general questions)
- use the form About -> Contact Us on www.hdsentinel.com website
- use the Report menu -> Send test report to developer option in Hard Disk Sentinel. This way I can check the actual disk status and that would confirm the situation about the performance display and I can advise. This is the best method to have support for a question related to a particular hard disk, system or about a function.

Re: Display Disk Activity
That was a quick response. Thanks. It's appreciated.
I tried the DOS prompt command and rebooted, however that didn't work. So I tried the Registry Editor and rebooted. That worked. Thanks. Seems strange that the setting got changed all by itself, but I've certainly seen stranger things happen.
Another question - In the same gadget window I'm given the choice of displaying the temperature in C or F. Is there a way to turn off the degree "symbol" (not the actual numbers) and the "C" or "F" ? I find that having those displayed just makes the information harder to read, almost confusing, when you want to display more than just the temp for the drive(s).

Re: Display Disk Activity
Of course, I'm glad if I could help
Yes, sometimes installation of a new software or hardware, applying a Windows update may causes that the performance counters of Windows are disabled or blocked. In this situation the steps described in the FAQ usually helps.
I'm afraid in the current version it is not possible to disable the display of the degree symbol and the temperature letter in the Sidebar Gadget.
However, this may be available in a later version, thanks for the tip.
