Quick way to repair bad sector, data is not imporant

Post by bolija7851 »

What is the quickest way to repair bad sectors when data is not important?
I tried Surface Test>Repair and it fixed every bad sector it found but I shut down my PC mid way because of some problems unrelated to PC.

I need to run again, should I do reinitialise or Repair? Does re initialise takes considerably long? ETA seems long at the begninging.

The Disk Repair test focuses on the stored data. It attempts to recover data from problematic sectors which can take long time especially if the number of such sectors is high.

The best and safest way (if data is not important) the Reinitialise Disk Surface - however yes, it is very intensive and it may require long time.

The quickest way if the data is not important is to use Disk menu -> Surface test -> Write test. This performs a complete overwrite of all sectors and fixes the sectors as quickly as possible. This is a "light" version of the Reinitialise disk surface test, other tools may (incorrectly) call a similar function as "low level format".
