HP Smart Array controllers are supported in version 4.60, so in theory, if you use the latest possible version, then hard disk status should be detected and displayed in Hard Disk Sentinel.
Please use Report menu -> Send test report to developer option, as then it is possible to check what happens, verify the raw detailes (and possible error codes) the RAID controller provides when the status accessed to verify what happens, how things can be improved (for example by a driver update or so).
I need to tell that with HP Smart Array controllers, you can see hard disk status and error counters - which provided by the controller and even if this is displayed on the S.M.A.R.T. page, this is not "true" self-monitoring data of hard disk (which we can get with other RAID controllers from other manufacturers).
HP RAID controllers completely isolate the hard disks from all software.
This is the only type of controllers where we can't get any kind of REAL S.M.A.R.T. information, so we can construct a "virtual" S.M.A.R.T. table, based on the statistics and error counters provided by the RAID controller itself.
We asked HP for years to change this and allow us to get the real S.M.A.R.T. information somehow. We asked the users of Hard Disk Sentinel, both individuals and companies using such HP systems to ask them also - as this is a real requirement.
HP completely ignored their customers and their needs.
Generally, we waited years (if you follow Hard Disk Sentinel evolution, you may see that dozens of RAID controllers of all other manufacturers added, supported, only HP was missing in the years).
But because there were no changes, decided to detect and show such information, as it is still better than nothing.
This is why the text description displays in this situation:
"Note: The status information and possible error(s) provided by the hard disk (RAID) controller. This may be different from the status of the physical drive."
