Optional tray icon blinking

Post by NotesTracker »

I would like the option to specify that drive icons blink -- individually, per drive -- when a critical level (such as temperature) is reached.

I know that some people don't like blinking icons, so am requesting this as a configuration option on the "Thresholds / Tray Icon" page, applicable to the "Above" temperature and "Bad Below" disk health thresholds.

Generally, the tray icons can "blink" in Hard Disk Sentinel now and in some cases (when the health is low) they automatically begin blinking by default, exactly to increase attention.

The temperature does not indicate blinking, just result in different colors for the tray icons: it turns from green to yellow and then red as the temperature inreases.

But there are options to show a symbol related to the current health of the hard disk: this sign can be green check mark (when the health is high), yellow exclamation mark (when the health is lower but still acceptable) and red X (when the health is very low).

If one of these options enabled, the tray icon is flashing: it shows the temperature and then the appropriate health symbol alternating for the corresponding drives.

Please check Configuration -> Thresholds / Tray icon page. There it is possible to configure not only this behavior on the bottom, but also the threshold levels for both temperatures and health.

By default, only the "Bad: below 25%" option enabled on the bottom, so the icon will only blink if the hard disk has health lower than 25%.
But you may modify that it should blink sooner, either by enabling the other options in the "Display hard disk health sign on tray icon" option and/or adjusting the health level threshold.

Ps. there you can also modify the font / color of the tray icons too.
