SSD Write Amplification Factor

Post by unknown14725 »

I can't find SSD Write Amplification Factor shown anywhere in HD Sentinel.

WAF = 1 + ( SMART Attrib 248 / SMART Attrib 247 )

Some more info:

Hi,

Both attributes 248 and 247 (and all others) are detected and displayed in Hard Disk Sentinel, see the S.M.A.R.T. tab ;)

These attributes and the formula may be available for a limited set of SSDs, that's why it is not displayed in general, but from the attributes, you can any time check and calculate.

Oh man, I don't want to bring out calc.exe whenever if I want to see what WAF is! :D

Well.. perhaps if you provide those two SMART attributes in WMI, external monitoring software can calculate WAF instead ;)

Thanks !

Generally I prefer to display information which are generic, eg. supported by many hard disks / SSDs.
But yes, as this may be interesting for Micron SSDs, it may be displayed on the overview page, after the total data written, as it may be useful.

And yes, if the attributes will be available through WMI (or currently from the XML report) then you can any time calculate ;)
