Dammit
But actually your comment is quite useful. According to Hard Disk Sentinel, this drive has a health status of 9% and an estimated remaining lifetime of 14 days, but is not yet eligible for RMA, so I was hoping to push it over the edge by using it extensively before the warranty runs out. I was wondering if taking it out of the case affects the warranty, but since WD's warranty check mentioned nothing of that sort, I was hopeful. But if you're right, I can abort the exercise and simply throw the drive away.

Thanks for the attention!
I'm checking to improve the situation, maybe the best would be to have abbreviated (abbrev.) form of these texts in DE.LNG ;)

Will you be able to support other languages such as French and Spanish?

They are both supported, see the complete list of supported languages (25 different languages at the moment) at

The "error" msg from the SMART tests is also too long to fit: It only displays "Test fehlgeschlagen und Bedienungsschader"

The *.lng files contain the texts for each different languages. For example EN.LNG for English, HU.LNG for Hungarian language, DE.LNG for German language and so.
These are simple text files, you can check with (for example) notepad.
