Seek Time Performance, Throughput Performance

Post by aramrahgozar »

Hello
I noticed one of my 8T WD external Disk shows some numbers in the data column. Seek Time Performance shows 18, Throughput Performance 112, and Spin Up Time 33948169.

I searched and saw this link. The SMART numbers are kinda similar. You said on this post there isn't problem. Is it true about my disk too?
Thank you in advance

Thanks for the image.
Everything seems fine: the Health is 100% so if I'm correct, the Overview page shows no problems too.

I usually recommend to perform some tests (even on a new drive) to verify the situation: reveal any possible issue - or confirm if the drive is working correctly.

Please check the Support -> Frequently Asked Questions -> Hard disk health is low or recently changed or I just installed a new (used) hard disk. How can I perform a deep analysis?

Hello Again
My other WD MyBook 8TB (same model) suddenly increased the data numbers last night exactly like the disk mentioned in the first post in "Seek Time Performance" (18) and "Throughput Performance" (112).
Is this some kind of error in the SMART part of these disks? I ask this because the numbers are similar.
Thank You in Advance.

These values are completely correct. It is normal and expected that different attributes normalize and change with use, especially the attributes related to the performance as these constantly measured/updated by the disk drive.
All attributes are fine, the Health is 100%. These numbers do not indicate any error with the drive, no need to worry.

If there would be a problem, then Overview page and the Health % value should reflect them - and the recommended hard disk tests
https://www.hdsentinel.com/faq.php#tests
probably show error(s).

Thanks for the answer, really appreciated.

Yes, Health and performance on the overview are 100%. The short test was successful. I didn't have time for the long test, but I will do it later.

One thing that concerned me is the speed of decrease in value in "Spin Up Time". With just 8 hours of more work, the value decreased from 167 to 159.
It seems like these new WD MyBooks will fail very soon. (pics below)

But on my other disks (for example these internal WD) this value almost didn't change or decreased slowly despite years of work.
