Hi there,
I do my backups on a WD Red I got the drive out of and older server a few years ago. I have had no trouble accessing it until the other day. I did see it in HD Monitor at 100% then not showing. It still shows up in disk management as online (see screen shot)
I cannot see it in windows 11 file explorer. Not sure how to fix as it has data I would like to retrieve.
I have a wavelink HD cradle it sits in. I can see all my other Hard Drives in file explorer. Its just not this one drive.
Anyone had the same problem or could give me some advice.
The partition and your data present on the drive, "just" Windows does not automatically add a drive letter to it.
That's why the File Explorer does not see the contents of the hard disk drive.
This is not rare, can happen (for example) if the drive cloned to a new drive and then used as secondary disk (eg. by USB adapter/dock).
To access your data, you need to manually add a drive letter: in Windows Disk Management, please right click on the biggest partition, where you see 3715.79 GB Healthy (Primary partition).
Then select Change Drive Letter and Paths option.
There you can use the Add button to add a new drive letter (for example I: , J: or any other letter currently not used) and then File Explorer will show all data on that partition.
