Looks like HDSentinel for Linux only displays some disk info. Is that true?

The Linux version can detect and display the disk status, however, it does not perform any test/scan/repairs.
To test/scan/repair the disk drive, please use the Windows version. You can connect a Linux-formatted drive to Windows (eg. by USB dock) and perform the tests/diagnostics there.
Even if the file system is not readable under Windows, Hard Disk Sentinel can perform disk testing.
